Ingredients

  • ½ cup broken wheat (dalia/faada)
  • ½ cup roughly chopped groundnuts
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
  • 1 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1 tsp chili flakes

Instructions

  1. Rinse and wash the broken wheat. Add twice the quantity of water, salt and pressure cook on medium-high flame for up to 2 whistles. Manually release the pressure, drain off any excess water (if there is any) and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add jeera. Sauté it for a minute or until it turns aromatic.
  3. Add crushed groundnuts and sesame to it and sauté it for 2 - 3 mins.
  4. Add cooked broken wheat and chili flakes and mix it properly.
  5. Garnish with some crushed peanuts and serve hot.

Notes

Personal Note:

This khichdi is a good alternative to Sabudana (tapioca) khichdi. It’s quite filling, nutritious, and one of my favorite dishes.
