  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds (jeera)
  • 1⁄2 tbsp amchur powder (dry mango powder)
  • 1⁄2 tbsp red chilli powder (as per taste)
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1 tbsp ready misal masala (available in any brand)
  • 1/4th cup dry white peas (Safed vatana)
  • 1/4th cup of mung beans (moong)
  • 1/4th cup dry red channa (whole red chickpeas)

  3. As it starts to crackle, add all the beans along with their water.
  4. Add the remaining spices mentioned in the list and boil the beans for 5-7 minutes or until soft.
  5. Garnish it with sev while serving.
  6. Enjoy it with either paratha or roti or rice.

Notes

Personal Note:

This khichdi is a good alternative to Sabudana (tapioca) khichdi. It’s quite filling, nutritious, and one of my favorite dishes.
