Barnyard Millet Kadhi

Ingredients

  • Coconut milk: 1 cup
  • Water
  • Barnyard Millet Flour: 2 tbsp
  • Haldi: 1 tsp
  • Dried red chilis: 1-2
  • Cumin Seeds (Jeera): 1 tsp
  • 1-2 tsp lemon juice
  • Whole dried red chilis: 1-2
  • Oil: 1 tbsp

Instructions

Preparation Method:
  1. Mix coconut milk with barnyard millet flour and whisk it well.
  2. Pour the liquid into a saucepan. Add salt, dried red chilis, and turmeric powder.
  3. Place the pan over medium heat and stir until the liquid becomes hot. Lower the heat and let the kadhi simmer. Stir it occasionally and cook till it becomes creamy.
  4. For the tempering, heat oil in a small pan over low heat. Add cumin seeds, dried red chilies. Mix well and pour the tempering over the kadhi.
  5. Add lemon juice to the kadhi once it cools down a little bit.

Notes

You can also use plant-based yogurt for this recipe. In that case, skip adding the lemon juice to the kadhi.
