Mysore paak

A mouthwatering sweet dish that gets ready in about 20 minutes with just basic ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup gram flour (chana flour)
  • 2 cups vegan sugar
  • 3 cups vegetable oil (any oil containing no smell)
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Mix 1 cup gram flour in 2 cups of oil well (leave 1 cup of oil on the side)
  2. Mix 2 cups of sugar in one cup of water (in any deep nonstick pan)
  3. Turn on the heat and let the sugar dissolve completely. Add gram flour and oil and continue stirring until the whole mixture becomes a little thick.
  4. Slowly add the remaining oil (1 cup) in the mixture, stirring continuously, until the color changes to a light brown shade.
  5. Turn off the heat immediately and transfer the whole mixture to a deep plate.
  6. Wait for 2 to 3 minutes and cut it into square-shaped pieces. Enjoy!

Notes

Traditionally, Mysore Pak is made with ghee, but I have veganized it and used oil. Vegan ghee, which has no odor, can also be used as a substitute.

Personal note: This is an absolute favorite sweet dish in our family. It simply melts in your mouth, super easy and quick to cook. Try this out and hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
